The PROGEO Games
PROGEO offers twelve interactive geography games, organized into four difficulty levels: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert, and Geographer. Each game adds points to your personal ranking.
Time in PROGEO
Time is a key factor in scoring. More time pressure = more points.
You decide whether to play with or without a time limit. Turning it on increases your score.
Time starts running from the first level. It is not optional.
Time starts from the Intermediate level.
The Daily Challenge
PROGEO is as flexible as you want it to be. You can choose which games make up your Daily Challenge for each 7-day cycle — and once the cycle ends, you choose again: the same games, different ones, or a brand-new mix. Choosing your challenge never limits you: at any time, you can play any other game in the grid, whether or not it's part of your selection. Since every match brings a different challenge, it's nearly impossible to repeat the exact same experience twice. That's what makes PROGEO a long-lasting game: there's always a new cycle waiting, and always something different to discover.
Your choice of games is personal, but the challenge isn't: everyone who picks the same game for their Daily Challenge plays the exact same match that day, whether Free or Premium.
The system assigns the country or puzzle based on the level you choose. No one else picks it.
Every PROGEO player, Free or Premium, who plays that level that day faces exactly the same challenge. The challenge resets at the same time for everyone every day, based on UTC — it doesn't depend on your time zone.
Premium subscribers can play as many games as they want, at any level, any time, after playing the daily challenge.
Only the daily challenge. For both Free and Premium users, only that game adds points to your ranking.
Additional games (practice mode) show your individual score, but they don't add to or affect your accumulated ranking.
Games by Mechanic
You have a limited number of attempts. Each one reveals clues that bring you closer to the answer.
Guess the country from geographic clues: continent, region, population, area, and access to the sea.
Guess the country's capital. The clues tell you whether your answer is closer or farther away.
Identify the country from its flag, revealed progressively.
Geography enters through the eyes. Identify countries by their shape on the map.
Guess the country by looking at its silhouette. No names, no written clues: only the shape of the territory.
The world map is in front of you. Find the requested country before time runs out.
Think in groups, categories, and intersections of information.
Group countries according to what they have in common. Find the four groups before you run out of attempts.
Complete a 3×3 grid. Each cell is the intersection of two geographic criteria.
Organize the list from highest to lowest according to the concept presented to you. The more you get right and the faster you are, the higher you climb.
Choose the correct answer from several options. It seems simple. It is not always so.
A river is described to you with progressive clues. Do you know which one it is?
A summit or mountain is described to you with progressive clues. Do you recognize which one it is?
You are given a concept. Find all the countries that share it. There may be one, or there may be many.
You are given a language. In which countries is it spoken? Find them all.
You are given a currency. Which countries use it? Find them all.
Scoring System
Winning a game = 100 base points. Giving up always gives 0 points; losing by attempts or by time may give partial points in games with proportional performance.
| Level | Multiplier | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Beginner | ×1.0 | 100 pts |
| Intermediate | ×1.5 | 150 pts |
| Expert | ×2.0 | 200 pts |
| Geographer | ×3.0 | 300 pts |
Time also multiplies your score (only in games with optional time):
| Mode | Multiplier |
|---|---|
| No limit | ×1.0 |
| Normal time | ×1.3 |
| Fast time | ×1.6 |
Zero-Error Bonus: applies to all 12 games. If you finish the game without any error or failed attempt, the final score receives an additional +10%, whether it was a complete victory or recognized partial performance.
Streak: personal indicator. It does not score points, but it will be the basis for future medals and recognitions.
Every day you get one challenge per game. Your score from that game is recorded in your daily ranking.
7-Day Cycles
Your score accumulates over 7-day cycles. When the cycle is complete, the counter resets to zero and a new cycle begins — so you always have a nearby goal, a challenge with yourself, not a number that grows forever. If you join partway through a cycle, it doesn't matter: you simply start adding points from that day on; your first cycle may be shorter, and the following ones will be full-length.
